Spicy Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Every year around Halloween one of my traditions is to carve pumpkins and then take the seeds and roast them.  This year I tried two new spicy pumpkin seed recipes.  They both turned out pretty well but I’d have to say that the spicy honey one’s are by far my favorite.  I just love the combo of the sweet goodness of the honey with the kick of the spices.

Spicy Roasted Pumpkin Seed Recipes 

Pumpkin Seeds and Guts     Pumpking Seeds Washing

First start out by opening up your pumpkin and cleaning out all of the seeds that are inside.  (Tip: Use large popcorn type bowls with plastic grocery bags in them so that clean up is a snap.)

Next rinse them off in a strainer to get all of the pumpkin goop off of them.

Once your seeds are all clean, I like to soak them over night in a salt bath.

Pumpkin Seeds Drying

After they are done in the salt bath, let them dry.  I like to put paper towels on a cookie sheet and then put the seeds on top.  Once they are mostly dry, you are ready to start baking these tasty seeds.

Spicy Honey-Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

PREP TIME: 5 Minutes   COOK TIME: 20 Minutes   TOTAL TIME: 25 Minutes

Spicy Honey Pumpkin Seeds

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups of Pumpkin Seeds
  • 3 Tbsp of Honey
  • 1 Tsp of Paprika
  • 1/2 Tsp of Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/4 Tsp of Salt

Directions: 

1. Pre-Heat the oven to 325.

2. Put 2 Cups of Pumpkin Seeds into a medium sized bowl and add the Paprika, Cayenne Pepper, and Salt.

3. Next put 3 Tbsp of Honey into a microwave safe bowl and microwave it for 10 seconds.  Then add honey into the spices and seeds mixture. Coat the pumpkin seeds evenly.

4. Once all of the pumpkin seeds are evenly coated, spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and place them in the oven for 20 minutes.  At the ten minute mark, open the oven and stir them around and then let them bake for the remained 10 minutes.

5. Once they are done baking, taken them out of the oven and let them cool.

6. Once the pumpkins seeds have cooled, they’ll be ready to eat and enjoy.

  • 1 Tsp of Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp of Cayenne Powder
  • 2 Tsp of Olive Oil

1. Pre-Heat the oven to 375.

2. Put 2 Cups of Pumpkin Seeds into a medium sized bowl and add the Garlic Powder, Salt, Cayenne Powder, and Olive Oil.  Coat the Pumpkin Seeds evenly.
